Why Serve?

Contributing, not consuming; participating and not spectating; serving others; responsibility for the house; ownership; volunteering time and money; equipping for service.

Volunteering is a basic Biblical principle that Rivers embraces and encourages, and is a requirement for everyone wishing to Partner with us.  God has equipped us each with unique gifts, talents and abilities that we can use to make a difference in the church and the world.  Every member of the church can play a valuable part in enlarging and progressing the church - The more members involved, the more effective the church for Christ.

We encourage everyone to get involved in one or more of the below ministry areas.  Serving in God’s house is a valuable and rewarding way of contributing to the church, as well as a great way to get to know people and make friends.

Our Discipleship College offers a short course, called Embracing A Volunteer Spirit to help everyone gain a better understanding of the biblical principles behind volunteering. It is based on Ps Andre's book of the same name, available from our Resource Centre or online.
